The escaped animals are now marked with a red colour. This way, the zoo-keepers can check whether it always concerns the same animals. As yet, it seems to be especially the animals which have came over from England that keep going on a expedition. The twenty British prairie dogs which come from Banham Zoo have a lighter coat and are a lot more slender than the 47 animals of the original colony with which they share their residence.
