Animals health care Flanders (DGZ) in Belgium has developed a pilot around a new web application last year. Therefore internet and email laboratory results are online available for veterinarians and farmers.
For veterinarians, the application is already ready, and there are a threesome of tests by farmers at this moment. A total availability for Flanders has been planned in April or May of this year. If the system is operational, a farmer can login with its password via the DGZ site. He comes then in the electronic archives, and can look up all laboratory results that are from his cattle. Not only the farmer can apply in that way his own archives, he can also inform others fast by email of the results. The system is free for the consumer, in contrast to the present post and fax system.
