In The Netherlands, the First Chamber has approved a modification of the laws for nature and wildlife, allowing foxes to be shot.
Minister Veerman of Agriculture emphasised that shooting foxes is not a hobby of hunters, but an act of regulation, which is carried out with care. He stated that foxes account for around forty percent of all victims among protected animals. Due to the law modification pasture birds will thus be better protected.

The minister promised to check in further detail the damage that foxes cause.
