Government policy statement concerning animals

The Dutch animal protection society is relieved that for the first time animal wellbeing is explicitly brought under attention in the coalition agreement. A new bill of animal wellbeing is namely included in the future Dutch coalition agreement.
The new government intends to raise the sentence for animal abusers. It also wants to create the possibility to impose individuals prohibitions for keeping animals.

Apart from this, the new government also intends to pay more attention to the upholding to rules of animal protection and animal wellbeing. A big emphasis will be place on stimulating innovations and investments in systems animal friendly ways of keeping animals.
